DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
It seems like only yesterday that Peter Finch took over running the Digital Photography group but in fact it was over 5 years ago, in April 2015. Now Peter has decided that the time is right to hand the leadership over to others. As Group Coordinator I have found Peter to be one of the most enthusiastic group leaders and the efforts that he put into the group sessions, and his meticulous planning of ‘away days’ and contribution to our Open Days, was exemplary.
I really do hope that the group will continue and that someone, a current group member or another U3A member, will step forward to fill this role. Leading a group need not be arduous; it can be led singly, jointly or shared amongst the group members.
It would be a great loss to our U3A to lose this valuable group so if you think you could lead the group please do give it a go. There is always help and guidance available from the committee members, other group leaders and from me.
In these challenging and unusual times group leaders are having to find new ways of keeping in touch with their group members and many have overcome these problems with the help of modern technology using tools such as ‘Zoom’. It does need extra planning and it is interesting to hear how groups have been keeping in contact and the problems it incurred. With the relaxing of government restrictions, we can now look ahead and get groups meeting again, albeit in small numbers and currently outdoors (the rules, as you know, are constantly subject to change). It is up to us all to find new ways to make our U3A vibrant and growing again and group leaders are vital to this effort; we can start now by finding a new leader to ensure the continuation of the Digital Photography Group.
