The Walking Group were lucky once again with the weather and nine walkers, including one new member and four walkers new to the group, enjoyed an 8kms/5mile morning’s walk. Leaving Burnham-on-Crouch heading east along the seawall we enjoyed the river views at half-tide. Leaving the seawall we crossed the fields of Wick Farm and were accompanied by skylarks singing.
Due to a slight map reading error we saw parts of Wick Farm we hadn’t intended to but looking on the bright side (and some even sang the song of the same name!) our eagle-eyed photographer spotted a large, white, almost round birds egg lying in the reeds and we spent some time pondering what bird it belonged to: a Tawny Owl’s was the closest match.
A welcome lunch was eaten in the Oyster smack.
