We discussed the latest two books, ‘Life After Life’ by Kate Atkinson which we would all recommend as a good read – however, we agreed that the content was rather long and perhaps could have been managed differently. Most took notes as they read, as the scenarios were quite complicated, but these were proved unnecessary when reading the final chapters.
The second book was ‘Brief Encounters’ by Julian Clary which didn’t come up to expectations. The book didn’t have much of a plot and as the final chapters were weak in content wasn’t a satisfying read at all.
‘All The Light We Cannot See’ by Anthony Doerr, which was the winner for the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2015, is the next book on our list.
The August meeting will be held on Friday 17th.
