It was another of those beautiful days when the sun shone, a light breeze blew and the ebbing water on the river was flat calm. A perfect day to be out but regrettably not much to see.
As last month the main chattering birds were groups of goldfinches. The flowers seem to be defying autumn and many were blooming well past their normal flowering season. A butterfly flew by, most likely a red admiral, but it didn’t oblige us by stopping so we couldn’t positively identify it.
Birds: Blackbird, Blue, Great & Long-tailed Tits, Starling, Goldfinch, Chaffinch Wren, Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Crow, Little Egret, Black-headed & Herring Gulls.
Flowers: Bristly Ox-tongue, Red Clover, Groundsel, Ribwort Plantain, Ragwort, Scentless Mayweed, Great Reedmace, Yarrow, Dandelion, Speedwell, Hedge Bindweed, Wild Radish, Field Poppy, Honeysuckle, Daisy, Dandelion, Bramble, Prickly & Smooth Sowthistle, Wall Lettuce, Red Deadnettle, Woody Nightshade, Chickweed, Shepherd’s Purse
Other: Grasshopper, Rabbit
